6 Bath Toys that Won’t Get Stuck in the Tub Drain

Bath time for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers usually isn’t complete without a tub full of toys.  Toys elevate the experience of bathing from a simple hygienic exercise to an opportunity to splash, play, and explore.  The problem is that sometimes those small plastic or rubber pieces found with most bath toys can get stuck in the tub drain (or, perhaps, purposefully put in the tub drain if you happen to have a curious little one).

In order to help prevent that problem, we’ve come up with a list of fun bath toys that won’t get stuck in the tub drain.  It’s a win-win!

6 Bath Toys that Won’t Get Stuck in the Tub Drain

1. Bath crayons

Bath crayons are essentially colored soap that kids can use to write and draw with all over the tub walls.  They clean up easily with a quick wipe of a sponge.  You can buy them or make a DIY version at home.

2. Bubble bath

Bubble bath is a classic for a fun bath time.  Kids can have fun hiding under the bubbles, creating funky bubble hair styles, and decorating the walls of the tub with bubbles.

3. Bath books

Who doesn’t love to soak in a tub with a good book? When your kids read a book in the bath it probably doesn’t look like when you read a book in the bath (i.e. no candles or relaxing music), but waterproof books meant for bath time are still great options for a fun bath.

4. Scoops, cups, funnels

You know how on Christmas morning the favorite present always ends up just being the box and the wrapping paper?  Kind of along the same lines with bath time.  Throw some cups, funnels, and measuring cups in the bath tub, and let your kids pour and dump to their heart’s content.  These objects are big enough that there is no fear of them getting stuck in the tub drain.  Sometimes simple is best.

5. Bath finger paint

It sounds counter productive–introducing finger paints during a time when a child is supposed to be getting clean.  However, these finger paints are designed for bath time.  Your kids can paint all over the tub walls and it will easily wash off their bodies and the tub.  Click here for a list of reviewed bath finger paints.

6. Bath bombs

Bath bombs can be purchased or you can make your own at home.  Some bath bombs designed for kids even contain a surprise toy inside that is revealed once the bath bomb has fizzled away.
