Happy Fourth of July from Flame Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical! In honor of this holiday where we celebrate our country’s independence, here are some tips for having an energy efficient Fourth of July this year!
Keep the Lights Off
It stays light outside until almost 10 o’clock so keep the lights off as much as you can and use the natural light. If you are having a party, hold it outdoors. Once the sun sets, you can light up the event with some home fireworks, bonfires, or tiki torches!
Light Up the Grill
Grilling outside instead of using your oven indoors will help to keep your cooling costs down. Plus, who doesn’t love a grilled hot dog or hamburger in July?
Instead of cranking up the air conditioner, cool off with some water! Head to the pool or lake, or simply turn the sprinkler on in the backyard. You can even fill up some balloons with water.
Keep the Doors and Windows Closed
Keeping the doors and windows closed is especially important if you are having a 4th of July party and people are coming in and out of your home. In order to minimize this, and keep your air conditioned air inside, you can try to keep most of the party either indoors or outdoors. Don’t spread the party out with drinks outside and food inside-have it all in one place. Another idea? Place a sign on doors to politely remind guests to shut the door behind them!
When the temperatures are high, don’t forget to be safe and stay hydrated! If you have any questions about staying cool this summer, contact Flame! Have an energy efficient fourth of July!
