5 Bathroom Cleaning Supplies that May Surprise YouCleaning the bathroom may be not be your favorite task, but it is something that needs to be done.  More than for just hygienic and aesthetic reasons, regular bathroom cleaning can also prevent mold growth and health issues such as legionnaire’s disease.

Perhaps your cleaning bucket is already stocked with your favorite commercial supplies from the store.  But, if you are running low, or simply looking for alternatives we have some new and creative ideas for you.  Here are 5 bathroom cleaning supplies that may surprise you (and the best part is that you probably already have them at home!).

5 Bathroom Cleaning Supplies that Might Surprise You

1. Vodka

Yes, really, and it’s not just to make the process more pleasant.  Vodka can prevent mold and mildew.  Quick and Dirty Tips especially recommends using it on bathtub caulking.  Spray, leave for 10 minutes, and wipe off!

2. Shaving scream

There are plenty of cleaning hacks that use shaving cream.  In the bathroom, you can use it to help polish stainless steel surfaces and to clean any grout stains.

3. White wine

Use white wine to make your shower doors sparkle.  Quick and Dirty Tips explains, “The wine contains the perfect amount of alcohol to battle soap scum and lime.”  Click here for directions about how to use it.  And, once you are all done–fill a glass to enjoy while surveying your hard work and beautiful bathroom.

4. Cooking spray or vegetable oil

This can be used to help remove all of that build up gross scum around your tub and shower.  Spray, let it sit, wipe it off with warm water and dish soap and be amazed!

5. Drill

Nope, not a joke.  While I’ve never tried this myself, One Crazy House suggests switching out a traditional drill bit for a scrub brush on your drill and then go to town.  Sounds like much more fun than scrubbing manually!

Of course, we all know about using lemon, vinegar, baking soda, and combinations of it to also help aid in our cleaning.
