Annual Reminder to Change CO and Smoke Detector Batteries

It is that time of year again-time to change the batteries in the carbon monoxide detector AND the smoke detector.  This should be done at least once a year.

We all know the importance of a smoke detector in the event of a fire, but the carbon monoxide detector is just as, if not more important than a smoke detector.  This is because though smoke has a distinct scent and is visible, carbon monoxide is an odorless and colorless gas that can be deadly.  Carbon monoxide can be a product of many sources such as car exhaust or a cracked heat exchanger in a furnace.  Since humans cannot detect the presence of carbon monoxide until they are affected by it, it is so important to have a working detector in your home.

If you have any questions about carbon monoxide or smoke detectors, please feel free to contact FLAME!  Now, it is time to dig out those batteries!
