Michiganders Can only Handle 85 Degree Temps According to Survey

There was a famous scene in the 2000 movie “Miss Congeniality” with Sandra Bullock.  One of the contestants in the beauty pageant is asked what her idea of  a perfect date is.  Misunderstanding, she answers, “That’s a tough one. I’d have to say April 25th. Because it’s not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.”

Though her response didn’t answer the intended question, it does leave us to wonder, what do we consider to be the best weather?  What isn’t too hot or too cold?  Are you a ‘light jacket,’ or a bathing suit kind of person?

We all know people who love being in the heat and other who abhor it, but a recent study done by The Weather Channel has shown us that what is considered too hot might be more based on where we live rather than who we are.

According to the survey, Michiganders actually had the lowest threshold for heat with a median temperature of 85 degrees.  Michigan is joined by Massachusetts, Wisconsin, Washington, Vermont, Rhode Island, Idaho and South Dakota.

Not surprisingly, those in the southern states could stand for temperature to be a little warmer.  In fact, people in Nevada and Arizona didn’t feel that it was too hot until the thermometer rose until over 100 degrees!

This summer, whatever your personal heat preference is, remember to protect yourself and your family from various heat related illnesses.

Also, don’t forget to make sure that your air conditioner is running properly and efficiently and schedule an air conditioner inspection.

So, what do you think?  Is anything over 85 degrees just too uncomfortably hot? Do you think the survey is spot on or way off for Michiganders?  Leave your answer in the comments.
