Oil Changes (not spills) for Generators

If you read these blogs regularly (which you should), you know that I have been inspired by this stormy weather and have been writing about the importance of generators.  This blog is meant for those who have already jumped aboard the generator train.  If you have, congratulations!  Now it is time to learn how to take care of your generator.

Oil Change

In order to sustain your generator’s life and to make sure that it is running properly when you need it, the oil of the generator needs to be changed every so often.  If your generator has been running for a prolonged period of time it is suggested that the oil be changed every 50 hours or 2 days or so.  Even when the generator is not running, its oil filters still need to be changed though not nearly as often.  For regular oil maintenance when the generator is not in use, it is a good idea to check the manual.
