Resetting a Breaker
Blenders running full force, hair dryers blowing, televisions running… that’s the morning sound these days. All this busyness can suddenly halt if the power goes out when a fuse is blown.
Fortunately, there is generally a simple solution to this problem. It just takes a trip to your electrical panel. Once you have located your electrical panel, you will need to find which one of the breakers tripped. Tripped breakers will typically be in-between the ‘on and off positions. You can find the tripped breaker by physically touching the different switches; it will most likely feel a little looser than the others. Once you find the right one, flip it to the ‘off’ position and back to the ‘on’ position. This should get everything reset. If this does not work, you may need to contact an electrician.
Though fixing a blown a fuse is not too difficult, it can become frustrating to do it often. Therefore, to prevent that from happening, you can lighten the load on that circuit. Try moving devices that are not generally running, such as hair dryers or blenders, and plugging them into a different outlet.
