The Good News and Bad News of Winter 2019-2020

We’ve got good news…and we’ve got bad news.

I’d tell you the bad news first, but the truth is that whether the news is good or bad will depend on the reader. So, I’ll share the news with you, and you can decide which is good and which is bad. The Weather Channel has released its 2019-2020 Winter Outlook from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Read on to learn the good and the bad of winter 2019-2020.

The Good News and Bad News of Winter 2019-2020

December is going to be warmer than usual.

According to The Weather Channel’s latest long-term forecast, December in Michigan will have “near or slightly above average temperatures.”  That may be great news for those who are not cold-weather people. This update may be a little disappointing for those who dream of chilly snow-covered Christmas morning. But don’t lose hope yet–we could still have a white Christmas.

January and February will be colder than usual.

Winter lovers rejoice because, after a slightly warmer than usual December, you will get your fair share of frosty temps to come the new year. Those who begin looking forward to spring as soon as October hits must (once again) practice patience…and maybe invest in some new winter gear.

…And there’s more

The NOAA winter outlook also predicts a possibility of higher-than-average precipitation in our area. So, make sure your shovels are ready!

Don’t let any warm temperatures in December fool you. Winter will still be coming, and it is important that your home is ready. Don’t forget to schedule a furnace inspection, add extra insulation, and ensure doors and windows are properly sealed.
