As the saying goes, March comes in like a lion and out like a lamb. This saying, that many of us are probably familiar with from our elementary school years, refers to the weather in March.
March may be the month with the first day of spring in it, but the beginning of March is still very much winter and temperatures don’t start to soften until closer to the end.
In Michigan, it kind of seems like March comes in like a lion, the lion hangs out for a very long time, we sometimes have two random 80 degree days, the lion comes back, and maybe at the very, very end of the month the lamb starts to make an appearance. Does that sound about right?
March 2019 is certainly starting off with a lion. Accuweather explains that “frigid air currently bottled up in Canada will expand across the United States in its wake.” This means that the beginning of March is going to be really cold.
By this time of year, most of us are clawing at the door, ready to get outside and not have to bundle up in order to do so. In order to survive these last few “lion” weeks, here are a few ideas.
This custom of enjoying all things cozy is a perfect mindset to adopt when faced with a few more weeks of cold winter. So, put a pot of tea on to boil, light a few candles, don your favorite socks, and curl up with a good book.
Yep, you heard right. There’s a beach in Detroit in March. An art exhibit that is a giant ball pit, it beckons visitors with its [FREE!] beach like atmosphere.
If you need to get out the house, but aren’t quite sure where to go try the library. Many libraries offer a variety of free programs, or you can simply spend some time browsing the stacks.
