Hold on to your horses! Fall is starting tomorrow, Friday September 23rd. I suppose if you do not have horses, there is no need to actually try to hold on to them. Maybe you could on to something else though, like a hat. Sorry, I am rambling. Tomorrow marks the Autumnal Equinox (fancy, huh?) which means that due to the Earth’s tilt on its axis and its position of revolution around the sun, the sun is shining directly on the equator. (Does this bring you back to middle school Earth Science?)
Anyhoo, so on the day of the Autumnal Equinox, there is approximately equal amount of daylight everywhere, about 12 hours. After this, we, in the Northern Hemisphere will get increasingly less daylight and sun while the Southern Hemisphere soaks it all up. With the coming of autumn, also means the coming of chilly temperatures and therefore furnace checks.
Think of a furnace inspection as like a check-up. Do you remember having to get fall physicals in order to play a sport? Imagine that your furnace needs a check up in order to run this winter (get it-sports, running…?) The furnace inspection will help to find small problems before they become big problems and regular maintenance can increase the lifespan of your unit. In addition, another important test to have during this time is the “green goop” test. This test checks out your heat exchanger for carbon monoxide, a gas that could potentially be deadly.
Therefore, celebrate this Autumnal Equinox, by booking you and yourself a furnace inspection. Do not forget that if you are a Gold Plan member this inspection is complimentary. Contact Flame about a furnace inspection or signing up for the Gold Plan.
