Water Sensors

If you ever have problems or concerns with a leaking water heater, furnace, or air conditioner, you may want to read up on this water sensor article from The Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration News.

” The water-sensing device is a small, sensitive, fully encapsulated electronic circuit. It controls an isolated, powerful 5-A relay that can be added to the secondary drain pans for air-handling equipment, hot water heater safety pans, laundry room floor pans, or wherever there is a need for protection from catastrophic water damage. Two solid-state AquaSensors are fixed inside the two detector wings at the front of the housing to sense water. The five-way cable contains the power supply wires and the connections to the internal isolated changeover relay, which is normally closed, and opens when water is detected by the electronic field surrounding its sensor pads. When the water levels fill to the switch-on level, the sensitive electronic field surrounding the sensor pads activates the circuit. This device is not affected by oil or contaminates on the surface of the water. Low-voltage and line-voltage units are available. “
