Nowadays we are all looking for good news wherever we can find it, and Groundhog Day just might be our next opportunity. With frigid temperatures ahead of us here in metro Detroit, it is hard to not start dreaming of spring and warmer weather.
Despite the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic, Groundhog Day will once again be celebrated on Gobbler’s Knob in Punxsatawney, Pennsyvlania. Of course, like everything else, it will look a bit different this year. Unlike years past, there will be no crowd waiting to find out whether or not Punxsatawney Phil will see his shadow on February 2. Instead, the whole event will be livestreamed.
Tradition goes that if the groundhog, Punxsatawney Phil, sees his shadow on February 2 when he leaves his hole, he will get scared and go back inside–signaling six more long, long weeks of winter. If he does not see his shadow, we can expect an early spring.
Weather is a big part of what we do at Flame Heating, Cooling, Plumbing, and Electrical. We strive to keep you all safe and comfortable through icy temperatures, scalding heat, and storms. So, just like you, we are also on the edge of seat as to what Phil will predict tomorrow. However, whatever the furry rodent predicts–and whether or not his prediction is accurate–we know that it is important to have your home prepared for all seasons. Don’t hesitate to contact us with any of your residential home comfort needs.
So, where are you placing your bets this year? I think we can all agree, after the past 12 months, we are probably all hoping for a quick end to winter.
