Falling Leaves Could Cause Furnace Problems

For some people raking leaves is therapeutic and peaceful.  For others it’s one more chore to do on top of an already busy schedule.  For children a freshly raked pile of leaves is nothing more than a soft landing for a cannonball.  No matter what your feelings are on raking leaves the fact remains that it needs to get done.  Whether you enjoy the time spent outside or not, one thing you need to be aware of is where you rake your leaves to.  Why?  Because if you have a furnace that is 90% AFUE or above, the leaves could block your intake/outtake PVC pipe thereby causing the furnace to not work.

High efficiency furnaces (90% AFUE and above) have PVC intake and outtake pipes that are located on the side of the home, usually not very high off of the ground.  If you have trouble with your 90% AFUE or above furnace, first check these PVC pipes for blockage, and clear them out.  If you still have an issue, be sure to contact a professional such as the ones at FLAME.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact FLAME!
