Have you ever woken up, in a hurry, and discovered that nice warm shower you were looking forward to doesn’t exist? That, unfortunately, the hot water is out? This can really start your day off on a rough note. If this ever happens to you again, before you panic, try these quick fixes first.
Check the Water Heater Thermostat-It is possible that the thermostat got set back to a temperature much cooler than is comfortable. If so, simply dial the thermostat up and wait for the water to warm.
Check the Water Heater Pilot Light-Is it out? You can light it up yourself, and your water heater should be and up working shortly. Contact a plumber or heating and cooling company, or consult the owner’s manual if you are unsure how to re-light the pilot light.
Clean the Tank-This is a little more labor intensive, but sediment can build up at the bottom of the water heater tank that leads to backups. Draining the water heater can remedy this.
