DIY or Use a Professional?

I am all for finding deals or a less expensive way.  I buy my clothes from TJ Maxx, I reuse gift bags, I try to make my own cards instead of buying them. I completely get wanting to save money.  Therefore, I understand why when your water heater breaks, or your need a new furnace filter you look to order these parts online.  The price is usually cheaper than purchasing them through an HVAC company.  However, before you do that you should know…

The HVAC Company’s price usually includes:

• Installation and labor
• Sales tax
• Warranty

For certain smaller items, you say to yourself that you know what you are doing, you can just order the part online and “DIY” it.  However, for bigger issues sometimes the time, effort and frustration of installing a part yourself is not worth the savings.  Companies like FLAME will install the part, answer questions about its maintenance and the price will also include a warranty allowing you to not have to worry about what happens if it breaks.

Yes, ordering online can be less expensive but it is important to know that in the grand scheme of things, the product you are getting online is not the same overall package of what you would get with an HVAC company.
