Hypothermia Can Happen Indoors: Make Sure Your Home is Well Heated
Here in Michigan we are definitely not strangers to the cold, but this week is going to be really cold with most highs not even getting out of the teens. In cold weather such as this it is extremely important that you and your family stay warm. If not, you could be at risk for hypothermia. Hypothermia can be a fatal condition that occurs when your body temperature drops below 95 degrees Fahrenheit. It causes your heart and respiratory system to stop working if the hypothermia is not treated.
Though generally hypothermia is caused by exposure to cold temperatures outside for longer periods of time, please be aware that hypothermia can still happen indoors, especially to the elderly and young children if the home is not properly heated. Therefore, it is incredibly important to make sure to not only dress warmly with coats, hats, gloves, and warm shoes when heading outside into these cold temperatures, but to also double check that your home is well heated throughout. If you have any issues arise with your heat, call a professional company, such as FLAME immediately to come and help.
