How to Replace Your Home AC Filter
If you’ve recently moved into a new home, or you’re not sure when your air filters were last replaced, now would be a good time to check them. Your air filters should be replaced roughly every 2-3 months, however how often they are replaced can also depend on the type of air filters and whether or not you have pets.
Here are the steps to check and replace your home ac filter:
- Locate the air filter grills in your house
- Remove the air filter grill and remove the old air filter from behind it
- There may be a date written on the side to indicate when it was last replaced
- If this date is more than 3 months ago you should replace your air filter
- If there is no date written, look at the surface of the air filter to see if it is noticeably dirty or full of dust
- If you are unsure if you, it can never hurt to replace it with a new filter
- If you plan to replace your air filter, make note of the exact dimensions, as air filters come in many different sizes
- Also check the arrow on the side of the air filter to make sure that it is facing in the same direction as the airflow
