You Know Your Furnace is Too Old If…

Technology is sometimes so overwhelming.  I feel like every time I finally jump on the bandwagon and get a new phone, the next day there is an even newer, cooler one out.  One could drive themself crazy trying to keep up.  Thankfully, though heating and cooling technology is constantly evolving and improving, it is not always imperative to have the latest and greatest model.  However, that does not mean that you should never worry about replacing your furnace.  Older furnaces are less efficient by design and the older they get, the less efficient they get.  Here are some ways to know if your furnace is too old and should be replaced:

  • It was around when Bill Clinton was President
  • It saw Tara Lipinski win the Olympic Gold Medal for Figure Skating in Japan
  • It remembers when Elton John became a knight
  • It was around BEFORE Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World opened
  • It was around during the last episode of Seinfeld
  • Your furnace was in your home prior to the launch of Google

Essentially, if your furnace is 15 years old or older, then it is time to start thinking about a replacement.  Despite the fact that in the spring we usually concentrate on air conditioners, it is not a bad idea to start thinking ahead about your furnace for next year’s heating season.  You will be all set to go!  Questions?  Contact FLAME!
