High Efficiency Furnaces Beware of Falling Leaves

Falling leaves are the telltale sign of autumn, and though they are beautiful and fun to jump in, they can cause you some unwanted hassles when it comes to heating your home.

High-efficiency furnaces rated 90% AFUE have PVC intake and outtake pipes on the side of the home rather than through the chimney like other furnaces. When leaves fall, these pipes could become clogged, and your furnace could stop working.  It is also essential to be aware of where leaves are being raked so that piles of leaves do not accidentally block and clog these pipes.

Therefore, throughout the fall, especially after raking, take a moment to check out these pipes to make sure that they are clear. Also, if your furnace begins to have issues, check out the PVC pipes first.
