To DIY or Not to DIY?

Many of us are always on the look out for a way to save money.  With the internet, it is has become even easier to look for better prices for items and just order them.  In fact, many parts, units, and appliances in your home can actually be ordered online and installed yourself, for seemingly less money.  However, though prices of things such as hot water heaters may look less expensive on the computer, it is important to realize that the price from your heating and cooling contractor not only includes the part but also:

• Warranty
• Installation and Labor
• Sales Tax

For small projects, DIY may be the way to go, but when it comes to bigger projects such as installing heating and cooling units, paying the extra costs means you have certified technicians to install it correctly and answer any questions as well as typically a warranty.  One last note-many installation projects require permits from the city.  The heating and company will take care of all of that paperwork for you.
