Coldest Month in Michigan Still to Come

After a mild fall, December 2016 has definitely been a chilly one in Detroit.  When temperatures are in the single digits, it is very important to protect yourself from the cold by wearing plenty of warm layers outside and staying in heated buildings as much as possible. If you are ready for warmer spring and summer temperatures already, you may be in for a disappointment.  According to the NOAA, this cold snap might only just be the beginning.

Historically, January is Michigan’s coldest month.  On average the coldest day of the year for Detroit is between January 19 and 23, and the temperature is often around 18.7 Degrees Fahrenheit (When Is the Coldest Time of Year? NOAA Map Shows the Details).

Since winter isn’t going anywhere anytime soon, don’t forget to have your furnace inspected if you haven’t already.  These inspections truly do help your furnace to run better and live longer.  Contact FLAME if you would like to learn more about furnace inspections or other residential heating services.

So, after the holidays are over, prepare to bundle up for the coldest month in our state, January!
