Cooling Computer and Server Rooms

Working in an office or school you may have noticed that the computer room is much cooler than the rest of the building.  Though for you the computer room might just seem like a cold escape on hot days, these rooms house special equipment and need to be cooled in specific ways.  There are two types of ‘computer rooms’: server rooms and computer rooms.  Server rooms hold the data storage banks and hard drives for the office, while computer rooms contain the servers and printers for the office.  These two different rooms need to be cooled in two different ways.

No matter the size of your office building, server rooms need a separate cooling unit from the rest of the building.  Due to the nature of these buildings they tend to really heat up, which is why it is important that have a specific cooling unit just for that room. More than likely this room stores crucial data for your company that you would not want to overheat so it is best to take good care of it.

Computer rooms that house servers and printers need a more complex cooling system called a Liebert System.  This system cools through water instead of air, which allows the room to remain at a more constant temperature.  It also controls the humidity of the room so it is appropriate for the room.
