Keep the Water Heater Bill Down

Hot water for tea and hot showers can really help us out when the temperatures are chilly. Unfortunately, using a lot of hot water can end up being rather pricey. The good news is that there are a few ways to make sure that your hot water bill is not through the roof this winter!

Fix leaky faucets right away: Leaky faucets can waste a lot of water, so the sooner they are fixed, the better!

Insulate the water heater: If you have a natural gas or oil water heater, it is important not to cover the bottom, top, thermostat, or burner compartment. If you have an electric water heater, it is important not to cover the thermostat.

Drain the water heater: It is important to drain the water heater every few months because buildup accumulates and decreases the efficiency of the water heater.
