Tips for Finding the Right HVAC Company

When in need of a service, whether it be a new hair stylist, dentist, plumber, or HVAC contractor, it can be overwhelming to search, read through reviews, and get input from others about what the best option is.  Oftentimes the various reviews even contradict each other which further adds to the confusion.

When it comes to looking for a reputable HVAC company for your heating and cooling needs, there are two things to look for that can make your search much simpler: NATE certified technicians and being a Factory Authorized Dealer.

NATE Certified Technicians: NATE standards for North American Technician Excellence and it is “…the leading non-profit certification program for technicians in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, and refrigeration (HVAC/R) industry…” (NATE).  In order to become certified, technicians must pass difficult core and specialty tests.  If a company employs NATE certified technicians that means that they know their stuff.  Make sure to ask a potential HVAC company about this, or look for it on their website.

Factory Authorized Dealer: In your research for a heating and cooling company, you will find that most companies sell only one or two brands.  However, simply selling a certain brand does not make them a factory authorized dealer.  The brand company itself must deem whether an HVAC company is a factory authorized dealer.  To be considered  a factory authorized dealer, it usually means that the company has met high industry standards.
