Tips for Shopping for a Furnace

A little less than two weeks until Labor Day, which of course means that it is almost time for back to school.  Amidst the shopping for binders, pencils, crayons etc…  You may be thinking about shopping for a furnace.  Here are a few tips to keep in mind:

•  If your air conditioner is about the same age as your furnace-it is a good idea to try to replace both.  This will save you money in the end, because FLAME Heating, Cooling and Electrical (or any other contractor) would only have to come out once which saves both time and money
• Check out the efficiency level on a furnace by looking at the AFUE rating which stands for Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency Level- the AFUE rating will be in a percent form (ex: 70%, 90% etc…)  The percentage stands for how much of the energy your furnace is using is actually going towards heating your home.  The higher the efficiency level, the less you will pay on your heating bills since less energy is being wasted
