Ways to Make Every Home Coming Great

It’s homecoming season!  Whether or not you are returning to visit your alma mater…every homecoming to your own home, should be a comfortable pleasant one.  Though it’d be lovely in the fall to always return to a house filled with the scent of fresh baked cookies, unless you live with Mrs. Fields, that probably will not happen.  There are other ways to make sure that your home is comfortable though.

• Attic Insulation:  This helps to keep nice and warm air inside your home instead of having it escape to the outside.  Not only will it make your house more cozy, it will also save you money.
• Clean Filters:  A furnace filter should be changed about once a month.  This helps to keep the air flowing efficiently and also makes sure that your rooms do not get filled with as much dirt, dust, mold etc…  A clean filter is a happy home
• Draft Blocker:  No one likes a chilly, drafty home.  You can purchase draft blockers (or even make some yourself) for your doorways.
• Programmable Thermostat: With a programmable thermostat, you can make it so it will automatically change the temperature in your home based on your needs and wants.  So if you want to keep the heat down all day to save money while you are at work, but don’t want to sit around in a cold house when you get home waiting for it warm up, you can program a time for it to change temperature.  This also saves money and energy.
• Carbon Monoxide Detector:  For the most part, this won’t ACTUALLY make your home more comfortable, but it should make YOU more comfortable, knowing that you are at less risk of dangerous carbon monoxide poisoning.
