Hot Water Heater Regulations

Important News That Could Save You Money:

As of April 15th 2015, the Department of Energy has implemented new Energy Efficiency Standards for your hot water heater of over 55 gallons. These hot water heater regulations will be required to have a high-efficiency, power vented water tank.

So What Does That Mean for You?

If you have a 55-gallon tank or more on your water heater, you will be forced to upgrade in the event of a leak resulting in a hot water heater repair. That could mean:

  • Paying up to 35% more for equipment
  • Having to resize your utility room or closet
  • Not having a water heater during the replacement

Our experts at FLAME Heating, Cooling, Plumbing and Electrical are encouraging homeowners affected by the new hot water heater regulations to find replacement hot water heaters now and avoid costly upgrades.

How do You Know When Your Water Heater is Ready to Quit?

1. Water around tank: When the rubber lining in your tank starts to wear away, water will collect around the tank. Replace it before you end up with a much bigger problem.

2. Bad odors: When you start to notice some strange smells in your utility closet, the anode rod in your tank has decayed. These rods can be replaced but your tank may not be far behind.

3. Lukewarm or dirty water: If your water is coming out discolored or not as warm as you would expect, that is a sure sign that your water heater is failing.

If you have an older water heater or you are looking for hot water heater installation services, now is the time to do it. Call FLAME today, or contact us online to learn more about a new water heater installed by an expert FLAME technician.
